the lingerie
guide
a note before you shop
i get asked some version of "what do i wear?" in almost every single inquiry, so i built you this. not a shopping list of stuff i'm paid to recommend — just brands i actually trust, sorted by what they'll run you, so you can find something that fits your body and your budget without falling down a three-hour internet hole at 11pm.
here's the thing nobody tells you: the price tag has very little to do with how good you'll look in front of my camera. a $24 bralette that fits you perfectly will photograph better than a $400 set that's gaping at the cups. fit is the entire game. everything else is just texture and mood.
so before you spend a dime — read the "how to choose" page first. it'll save you money and a return shipping label.
and a permission slip, while we're here: you don't need to buy anything new at all. the lingerie drawer you already have is full of options. this guide is for if you want to, not because you have to.
what actually photographs well
a few rules of thumb before you click "add to cart."
- texture over print. lace, mesh, satin, and ribbing all catch light beautifully in low-key photography. busy florals and loud graphics tend to compete with you instead of supporting you.
- tonal, mostly. deep wine, black, espresso, blush, and cream all sit beautifully against skin in my style of lighting. neon brights tend to fight the mood, so steer away from those.
- bright white is a yes — especially for black and white. i love a crisp white set for monochrome work, it reads gorgeous against skin tone in black and white. one thing worth knowing: white on its own doesn't automatically read as bridal. it just reads as white. if you want that bridal feeling, add a veil or a garter and now we're telling that story on purpose, not by accident.
- bring more than one. two or three pieces gives us range across the session — a structured set, something soft, maybe a robe or slip. you don't need a full wardrobe, just options.
- fit matters most for what you're keeping. if it's coming from my client closet, don't stress about a perfect fit — we can pin, clip, and angle around almost anything, and a little snugness in a closet piece is genuinely fine. if you're shopping for pieces that are yours to keep, that's where i'd encourage you to actually get the fit right. you'll wear it again, so it's worth having it fit well instead of just photographing okay for one day.
- still stuck? bring it to your prep call. talking through pieces with me ahead of time is part of the process, not an inconvenience.
the splurge
investment piecesfor when you want something that feels like an heirloom — fine lace, hand-finished construction, the kind of piece you keep for years.
the sweet spot
quality, fairly pricedgood fabric, genuinely good fit, and a price that won't make you wince. this is where most of my clients land.
wallet friendly
does the job, beautifullyproof that you don't need to spend a fortune to feel good in front of the camera.
if sizing has been a fight
a lot of lingerie brands still stop at a DD cup or an XL, which is frustrating and frankly outdated. these brands run further than most — worth starting here if you've struggled to find your size elsewhere.
bras through H cup, underwear up to 3X.
underwear up to 4X, bras up to F, ten shade options for nude tones.
sizes from small through 3X, bras from 32A up to 42G.
custom sizing up to 15X, fully made-to-order so fit isn't a guessing game.
if none of these feel right, get-measured at any bra fitting counter (la vie en rose and most department stores offer this for free) and shop your actual numbers instead of your guessed ones. it changes everything.
truly, wear what makes you feel like you
this guide is a starting point, not a rulebook. the best session i ever shoot is the one where you're wearing something that makes you feel like the most interesting person in the room — whether that cost $18 or $800.
if you've booked with me, we'll go through all of this together on your prep call anyway, so don't stress about getting it perfect. bring options, bring questions, bring the thing you're not sure about. that's what i'm here for.
and if you haven't booked yet — i'd love to have you.
